Amazon Web Services (AWS) India has unveiled its first-ever AWS Space Accelerator, a pioneering initiative designed to provide space technology startups in India with both technical and business mentorship to foster innovation and growth. This announcement follows AWS’s collaboration through memoranda of understanding with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and IN-SPACe, a central agency of the Department of Space.

The accelerator, which spans 14 weeks, aims to equip participating startups with essential business resources, expertise, and insights into technological and business capabilities, enabling them to utilize AWS services to develop, expand, and scale their operations. It targets startups at various stages of development within the Indian space sector, encouraging both nascent and established companies to participate.

Given the space technology sector’s demand for substantial capital and its inherently high-risk nature, the AWS Space Accelerator seeks to assist startups in building and validating their technologies on AWS before making significant capital commitments. This approach aims to reduce costs for startups, allowing them to innovate more freely and effectively.
