After assembling the iPhone 15 in India last year, Apple is planning to start manufacturing its premium iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models in the country.
According to reports, Apple’s principal partner, Foxconn, has begun training thousands of workers at its Tamil Nadu factory to produce the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. Foxconn is expected to assemble these high-end devices in India shortly after their global release.

Other Apple partners in India, including Pegatron and the Tata Group, are also expected to begin assembling the iPhone 16 Pro models. These models feature a larger battery, titanium frame, and enhanced camera, requiring specialised production processes.

With the assembly of iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in India, Apple is expected to meet local demand by the end of the year, potentially reducing prices by up to 10%. Currently, these models are imported, leading to higher prices due to import duties. However, despite local assembly, costs may still remain higher than in some other regions due to expensive component imports and local taxes.

Most iPhone 16 Pro models made in India will likely be exported to Europe, the Middle East, and the US, as demand for these high-end models is relatively low in India.
