Amazon Web Services (AWS) is planning to expand its data centre facilities and workforce in Hyderabad, Telangana. A recent meeting between Chief Minister of the State of Telangana, Revanth Reddy, and Vice President of AWS, Kerry Pearson, discussed the potential of future investments in AWS’ cloud infrastructure, with AWS expressing interest to expand operations in Hyderabad.

IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, met the Amazon team in California. He said, “AWS has designated Hyderabad as a strategic region and three big data centres are already operational. They shared plans for further expanding their business, including a new hyper-scale data centre in Hyderabad that is critical for AI/ML-enabled services.”


AWS is expecting Hyderabad’s AWS Region to become crucial for the expansion of its cloud services in India, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Pearson stated. He further reiterated AWS’ dedication to supporting Telangana’s digital aspirations, enabling their customers and partners across the state and country to contribute to India’s goal of achieving a trillion-dollar digital economy.

Amazon’s presence in Telangana is already well-established, with its largest corporate building situated in Hyderabad. Last year the company also launched their dedicated air cargo network ‘Amazon Air’ in Hyderabad.
