Zomato has officially rebranded itself as Eternal Ltd, signaling its transformation into a diversified technology powerhouse. The company announced the change in a regulatory filing on Thursday, marking a strategic shift beyond its flagship food delivery service.

Why ‘Eternal’?


According to Deepinder Goyal, Group CEO and Co-founder, the name “Eternal” has been in internal use ever since the company acquired Blinkit. However, the formal adoption of the name comes as Blinkit emerges as a major revenue driver alongside Zomato’s core business.

What Changes?

While the Zomato app will retain its branding, the company’s stock ticker will be updated from ‘Zomato’ to ‘Eternal’, reflecting its expanded business ecosystem. Eternal Ltd will now oversee four major verticals:

  • Zomato – Food delivery & restaurant discovery
  • Blinkit – Rapid commerce & instant deliveries
  • Hyperpure – B2B supplies for restaurants
  • District – Logistics solutions

The name change is more than rebrand—it underscores Eternal Ltd’s ambition to build a larger business empire beyond food delivery. Industry insiders suggest that the move could pave the way for new verticals, deeper tech integrations, and possible global expansions.

Rumours about Zomato’s potential rebranding first surfaced in 2022, but Goyal had dismissed them as speculation, calling “Eternal” an internal codename. However, sources close to the company indicate that Zomato has been quietly restructuring its operations under this name for over two years, preparing for a seamless transition.

With Blinkit’s rapid ascent and the growing footprint of Hyperpure and District, the company now envisions itself as a multi-industry tech conglomerate, making this rebrand a natural progression rather than a sudden shift.

Experts believe that Eternal Ltd could soon expand into fintech, AI-driven logistics, or even cloud kitchen infrastructure, leveraging its vast consumer and merchant network. The rebranding positions it among India’s elite tech firms, moving beyond just food tech.

As Zomato evolves into Eternal Ltd, one thing is certain—this is just the beginning of a much bigger play in the digital economy.
