Renowned German optics and optoelectronics company, Zeiss, has established a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru. It will utilise India’s tech workforce and increase its research and development (R&D) plans. The GCC is located in a 43,000-square-foot facility, and Zeiss plans to onboard over 600 employees in the initial phase, with plans to double the number by 2028.
The GCC, launched on November 11th, 2024, will focus on optimising Zeiss’s IT and operational functions directly from India. Dhaval Radia, Zeiss India’s Chief Financial Officer, said, “This centre will accelerate the digital transformation of our growing global operations and is a testament to our commitment to establishing a strong foundation for Zeiss’ growth in India.”

Bengaluru, Karnataka’s capital, is already well-known for hosting more than 570 out of India’s 1,600 GCCs and employing more than 550,000 professionals. This new facility will seek to lead in areas like medical technologies, vision care, cybersecurity, AI, cloud solutions, and digital transformation.
