WEF 2026: Google Eyes IT, ITES and Data Centre Investments in Madhya Pradesh By Elets News Network - 22 January 2026

World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026

Madhya Pradesh’s push to emerge as a new technology and digital infrastructure hub received a significant boost at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, as global technology major Google expressed strong interest in investing in the state’s IT, IT-enabled services (ITES), and data centre sectors.

High-Level Talks with Google Leadership

During the WEF meeting in Davos, senior officials of the Madhya Pradesh government held detailed discussions with Sanjay Gupta, President of Google’s Asia Pacific region. The talks focused on existing capabilities and future opportunities in IT services, digital infrastructure, and large-scale data centres across the state.

Officials highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s improving business ecosystem, supportive policy environment, and growing infrastructure readiness, positioning the state as a competitive destination for global technology companies looking to expand in India.

Green Energy Policy for Data Centres

A key highlight of the discussions was the state government’s proposal to introduce a green energy-based policy for data centres. The policy aims to ensure reliable, affordable, and sustainable power supply—one of the most critical requirements for energy-intensive digital infrastructure.

The state’s focus on clean energy integration was underlined by the presence of Rakesh Shukla, Minister of New and Renewable Energy, during the meeting. Officials said the proposed framework would align with global sustainability standards and make Madhya Pradesh an attractive long-term base for hyperscale data centres.

Gemini AI Use Cases in Agriculture and Education

Google also shared its vision for deploying Gemini AI solutions in Madhya Pradesh, particularly in the areas of agriculture and education. Discussions explored how AI-driven tools could help improve farm productivity, enable precision agriculture, and provide better advisory services to farmers.

In the education sector, potential applications include digital learning platforms, personalised education tools, and large-scale skill development initiatives—areas that align closely with the state’s digital transformation and human capital goals.

Building Madhya Pradesh as a Technology Hub

Sanjay Gupta conveyed Google’s willingness to collaborate with the Madhya Pradesh government to support the state’s journey toward becoming an emerging technology and innovation hub. The proposed collaboration would focus on strengthening IT infrastructure, promoting innovation-led growth, and building a future-ready talent pool.

A Positive Signal for Global Investors

The interaction at WEF 2026 reflects growing global confidence in Madhya Pradesh as a destination for technology-led and sustainable investments. With proactive policymaking, emphasis on renewable energy, and openness to global partnerships, the state is steadily positioning itself on India’s technology investment map.

Officials said further engagements with Google and other global players are expected in the coming months as Madhya Pradesh works to translate these discussions into concrete investment proposals and on-ground projects.
