Veeam Software Welcomes Niraj Tolia as Chief Technology Officer By Elets News Network - 23 September 2024

Niraj Tolia has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Veeam Software. He joined the organisation after it acquired Tolia’s security-first, AI-driven data management startup, Alcion, which he co-founded with Vaibhav Kamra.

In his new role, Tolia will lead the planning and development of the Veeam Data Cloud (VDC), a set of services that improve Veeam’s data protection. He will work closely with Anton Gostev, Veeam’s Chief Product Officer, to ensure customers continue to get the best data protection solutions. Alcion’s team will also join Veeam immediately.

Commenting on Tolia’s appointment, Veeam’s CEO Anand Eswaran said, “Niraj is one of those rare individuals who not only understands where the market is headed but also possesses the skills and vision to bring that future to life for our customers.”

Tolia was formerly the CEO of Kasten, a company he founded to address Kubernetes backup and disaster recovery. After Veeam acquired Kasten, he served as General Manager, President, and Senior Vice President of Strategy at Kasten by Veeam. He also held a Governing Board position at the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).

He is an expert in distributed systems, storage, and data management and has held leadership roles, including Senior Director of Engineering at Dell EMC and VP of Engineering and Chief Architect at Maginatics (acquired by EMC). He holds a PhD, MS, and BS in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
