Unilever has announced that its Chief Executive Officer and Board Director, Hein Schumacher, will step down on March 1, 2025, and officially leave the company on May 31, 2025. The decision was made by mutual agreement, the company confirmed.

Fernando Fernandez, currently serving as Unilever’s Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, has been appointed as the new CEO, effective March 1, 2025. Fernandez took on the role of CFO in January 2024, following his tenure as President of Unilever’s Beauty & Wellbeing business. Throughout his career, he has successfully led key markets, including Latin America, Brazil, and the Philippines, driving strong financial performance and talent development.

Unilever Chairman Ian Meakins praised Schumacher’s contributions, noting his leadership in implementing a major productivity program and initiating the separation of the Ice Cream division. He emphasized that the Growth Action Plan (GAP) has set Unilever on a path to improved performance, and the company remains committed to accelerating its execution. “We appreciate Hein’s leadership and wish him the best for the future,” Meakins added.

Welcoming Fernandez as the incoming CEO, Meakins expressed the Board’s strong confidence in his ability to drive high performance, execute the GAP effectively, and enhance shareholder value.
