Truecaller’s board has named Rishit Jhunjhunwala, the current Chief Product Officer and Managing Director of India, as the new Group CEO, effective 9 January 2025.
In a board meeting on 6 November 2024, the announcement came from CEO Alan Mamedi and Chief Strategy Officer Nami Zarringhalam, who plan to step back from their day-to-day roles and concentrate on long-term board duties and strategic advisory. Post-January, both founders will stay on as advisors until 30 June 2025 to ensure a smooth handover.
Jhunjhunwala, who joined Truecaller in 2015 as Head of Product, has led product development and managed key revenue areas like advertising and Truecaller for Business. Since 2021, he’s also served as the Managing Director for Truecaller India.
Mamedi and Zarringhalam jointly said, “After much reflection, we have decided to leave our operational responsibilities at Truecaller. Words cannot express how proud we are of how Truecaller has developed since we founded the company in 2009.”
Commenting on his appointment, Jhunjhunwala stated, “ We’re really proud that Truecaller is loved by almost half a billion people globally and with a robust strategy laid down for the years to come. Having worked closely with Alan and Nami since 2015, he recognises the challenge of following in their footsteps but he is committed to advancing Truecaller’s mission for safer, more secure communication, he added.

The board members Shailesh Lakhani, Annika Poutiainen, and Helena Svancar said they are delighted to have Rishit step into the CEO role, adding that he has been pivotal to Truecaller’s growth, bringing dedication to both product and user experience. His leadership has been integral to the success of our team and product development, they stated.
