Tata Communications has announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop one of India’s largest AI-ready network infrastructures. This initiative is set to bolster India’s digital transformation by enabling high-performance connectivity for cloud and generative AI workloads at scale.
The planned deployment will interconnect AWS cloud regions in Mumbai and Hyderabad, along with edge locations and Direct Connect sites in Chennai. This long-haul, high-capacity network is designed to deliver ultra-low latency and seamless data transmission across India’s digital ecosystem.

According to Tata Communications, this project represents the company’s most extensive national long-distance connectivity rollout to date. The infrastructure will be tailored to support high-throughput, compute-intensive applications such as generative AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and emerging 5G-enabled services.

The collaboration aims to empower enterprises across sectors, such as finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail, with advanced cloud and AI capabilities. By enabling low-latency communication between AWS data centres, the network will ensure fast and secure access to mission-critical workloads and datasets.

In addition to performance, the architecture will be compliant with local regulatory and security standards, ensuring enterprise-grade protection for data in transit. This foundation is expected to significantly accelerate AI innovation and digital services delivery across the country.
This partnership marks a pivotal milestone in India’s journey to becoming a global hub for AI and digital infrastructure. The new network will catalyse scalable innovation, national cloud adoption, and future-ready enterprise solutions.
