Hyundai Motor India announced that Tarun Garg has assumed charge as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026, becoming the first Indian national to lead the organization since its establishment 29 years ago.
Garg succeeds Unsoo Kim, who is returning to a strategic role at Hyundai Motor Company’s headquarters in South Korea. With over 32 years of automotive industry experience, Garg brings extensive expertise in sales, marketing, distribution, financial management, product strategy, and brand communication.
Under his leadership, HMIL will focus on four strategic pillars: accelerating future-ready mobility solutions including electric vehicles, hybrids, and connected technologies through a ₹45,000 crore investment roadmap by FY 2030; empowering people and strengthening dealer and supplier networks; deepening customer trust through seamless experiences; and enhancing indigenization to position India as a manufacturing and export hub for emerging markets.
