Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has appointed Karishhma Kumar as its new Chief Information Officer, marking a strategic move to strengthen the company’s technology leadership and drive digital transformation across its operations.

Kumar joins from Beiersdorf, where she served as IT Service Line Head for the India hub. She brings over two decades of experience in automotive technology and digital innovation, having held senior positions across leading organizations.

Her career began in 2005 as a sales executive with DesignTech Systems, followed by roles at Futurism Technologies as business development manager and Omnitech InfoSolutions as major account manager. Kumar joined Tata Motors in 2008 as national key account manager and was promoted to deputy general manager for IT programmes in 2010, where she gained extensive experience in automotive technology systems.

From 2018 to 2022, she served as head of IT and digital initiatives at Tata Motors Insurance Broking and Advisory Services in Mumbai, leading technology strategy and digital transformation efforts.

Kumar holds an MBA in Marketing and Systems from KIT’s Institute of Management Education and Research and has completed a specialized programme in Customer Relationship Management at IIM Ahmedabad.

In her new role, Kumar will oversee IT strategy, digital innovation, and technology infrastructure for Skoda Auto Volkswagen India’s operations, which manage multiple Volkswagen Group brands including Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Porsche in the Indian market.

The appointment underscores the company’s focus on leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
