Paytm solar-powered soundbox

Paytm has introduced a solar-powered soundbox aimed at transforming digital transactions for small merchants, including hawkers, artisans, and street vendors. This new device is designed to function efficiently even in low sunlight, reducing reliance on electricity and lowering operational costs.

On February 20, following the announcement, Paytm’s stock price recorded a 1.43% increase, closing at ₹755.25 per share on the BSE.

This Made-in-India innovation is equipped with a built-in solar panel, ensuring automatic charging through natural light. Additionally, it features dual battery functionality, with one battery storing solar energy and another charging via electricity. A 2-3 hour solar charge can power the device for a full day, while the electric battery can last up to 10 days without recharging.

The 4G-enabled soundbox ensures clear and instant audio confirmations for transactions, even in busy marketplaces, thanks to its 3-watt speaker. Supporting 11 languages, the device enhances accessibility and includes a QR code for seamless payments.

This innovation follows the launch of ‘Paytm NFC Card Soundbox’ in December 2023, which integrates Tap-and-Pay card payments with QR code transactions in a single device.

With this latest addition, Paytm continues to drive sustainability and digital transformation, ensuring that businesses of all sizes can benefit from cost-effective and energy-efficient payment solutions.
