OpenAI Appoints Kiran Mani to Lead Asia-Pacific Operations By cioNetworks - 26 March 2026

OpenAI has appointed Kiran Mani, as Managing Director for Asia-Pacific, reinforcing its expansion strategy across the region.

Mani is set to join in June 2026 and will be based in Singapore, where he will oversee regional strategy, partnerships, and operations. He will report to Jason Kwon.


With over two decades of experience, Mani has held leadership roles at global technology firms including Google, Microsoft, and IBM, where he worked on scaling digital platforms and consumer technology businesses across international markets.

At JioStar, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company, Mani led digital strategy and helped expand large-scale streaming platforms in India’s fast-growing digital ecosystem.

In his new role, he will drive market expansion, enterprise adoption, and strategic partnerships across key Asia-Pacific markets including India, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

The appointment highlights OpenAI’s growing focus on the region, where demand for AI tools is rapidly increasing. Asia-Pacific, particularly India, has emerged as a critical growth market, with strong adoption across enterprises, developers, and governments.
