Cab aggregator Ola has named Rakesh Bhardwaj as its new Group Chief Information Officer (CIO).

As a part of his new role, Bhardwaj will help the group in strategizing the group’s IT initiatives pertaining to information systems, tools, security, IT infrastructure and assets across the company’s global operations and businesses, said Ola in its official communiqué.

Prior to joining Ola, he was associated with Cognizant as global CIO. He was also appointed as the CIO for GE Healthcare and CIO for GE Aviation and Transportation, earlier.

Last week, Ola named N. Balachandar as its Chief Human Resource Officer and Wayne Burgess as head of design for Ola Electric.

Commenting on Bhardwaj’s appointment, Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola, said, “I am pleased to welcome Rakesh to our leadership team. As Ola scales up further and expands into new areas such as connected manufacturing, intelligent charging infrastructure, and a sophisticated global supply chain, having a robust IT infrastructure enabling this growth is imperative. Rakesh’s expertise in building solid technology systems and processes across a diverse set of large organisations will be instrumental in building the technology backbone that will power this growth across our businesses.”
