Microsoft has joined hands with the Indian government to open an AI Centre of Excellence. It will also train 5,00,000 people, including students, teachers, developers, government workers, and women entrepreneurs, by next year. This is part of the India AI programme led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Microsoft signed an MoU with the ministry to start this collaboration. It will also create AI productivity labs in 20 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) and NIELIT centres across 10 states. These labs will teach people how to use AI tools.

The announcement was made by Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, during the Microsoft AI Tour in New Delhi. Nadella explained Microsoft’s three AI platforms: Copilot, Copilot & AI Stack, and Copilot Devices. He said these platforms could help Indian businesses. He also noted that India is quick to adopt AI tools, similar to tech hubs like Seattle and Palo Alto.
