Microsoft appoints Rohini Srivathsa as Chief Technology Officer for India and South Asia By Elets News Network - 05 September 2023

Rohini Srivathsa has taken on the pivotal role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Microsoft India and South Asia, effective this month. Formerly serving as the National Technology Officer at Microsoft India for a noteworthy five-year period, Srivathsa was responsible for spearheading technological innovation and fostering growth across diverse industries for the company.

The announcement of her new role was made by Srivathsa herself via a post on the professional networking platform LinkedIn, where she stated, “Pivoting to serve as the Chief Technology Officer — Microsoft India & South Asia at Microsoft!”


Rohini Srivathsa’s professional journey commenced at AT&T Bell Laboratories as an integral part of its research and development team. Over the years, she has garnered extensive experience through her tenure with prominent organizations including IBM, Fidelity Investments, Boston Consulting Group, ICICI, Paladion, and Janalakshmi Financial Services (now Jana Small Finance Bank). Her academic credentials include a PhD in computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA earned from the prestigious Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

In a related development earlier in August, Microsoft had disclosed the appointment of Puneet Chandok as the Corporate Vice President for India and South Asia, effective from 1 September. Chandok assumed this role succeeding Anant Maheshwari, who concluded his nearly seven-year tenure with the company. In his new capacity, Chandok will be at the helm of Microsoft’s business operations in India and South Asia, collaborating closely with enterprises, startups, and small to mid-sized businesses. Furthermore, he will oversee the harmonization of Microsoft’s operations across South Asian regions, encompassing Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, as per a statement by Microsoft.

This year has witnessed notable alterations within Microsoft’s top executive echelons. Apart from the transition involving Anant Maheshwari, Irina Ghose ascended to the position of Managing Director, while Navtez Bal took the reins as the new Chief Operating Officer for Microsoft India.

These strategic leadership changes underline Microsoft’s commitment to furthering its impact in the dynamic technology landscape of India and South Asia.
