Maruti Suzuki Extends Tenure of MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi By Elets News Network - 29 January 2025

Maruti Suzuki’s Board of Directors has approved the re-appointment of Hisashi Takeuchi as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for another three years. The decision was made during the board meeting held on January 29, 2025. Hisashi’s renewed tenure will begin on April 1, 2025, and continue until March 31, 2028.

The Board has also recommended the re-appointment of Maheswar Sahu as an Independent Director for an additional five-year term, extending from May 14, 2025, to May 13, 2030. This proposal is subject to approval by the company’s Members.


To finalise these appointments, Maruti Suzuki will conduct a postal ballot with electronic voting, allowing eligible members to cast their votes through remote e-voting. The cut-off date for voting eligibility is set for February 14, 2025.

Hisashi, who has been associated with Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) since 1986, was first appointed as MD & CEO of Maruti Suzuki on April 1, 2022, following the completion of Kenichi Ayukawa’s tenure. He has served on the company’s Board since July 2019 and was promoted to Joint Managing Director (Commercial) in April 2021 before assuming the CEO role.

Maruti Suzuki stated that both Hisashi and Maheswar comply with all regulatory guidelines, with no disqualifications under SEBI or any other authority. The company also confirmed that Hisashi has no familial relations with any director.
