In an effort to increase the appeal of customer relationship management (CRM) products, IBM and Salesforce have teamed up to deliver generative AI solutions to the enterprise market.
The relationship focuses on a number of CRM value chain components, including the integration of IBM consulting services with Salesforce products. IBM wants to help companies integrate Salesforce AI tools like Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud by utilizing its Garage digital transformation strategy.

Customers will have access to IBM’s Data Classifier tool, which uses industry-specific AI algorithms on the data produced by Salesforce to streamline data mapping. IBM’s Watsonx AI and data platform, combined with this technology, enhances Salesforce’s AI capabilities.

According to Matt Candy, worldwide managing partner for generative AI at IBM Consulting, the partnership intends to make it easier for businesses to use generative AI. In a statement, he added, “We see how the need to boost employee output while concurrently elevating the customer experience with speed, personalization, and convenience has surged exponentially.”
IBM emphasizes that for the purpose of developing and improving enterprise-grade AI models, shared clients may also decide to use its Watsonx enterprise AI platform. To make data from backend systems more accessible for use with Salesforce and open-source AI models, WatsonX can further help unlock it.
Customers are also urged to think about adopting IBM’s Data Classifier, an AI-powered program trained on industry-specific data models, to efficiently map their own internal data, guaranteeing that it can be used with AI tools and programs.

On August 22, the business unveiled Watsonx Code Assistant for Z, a further generative AI-assisted tool. This product’s goal is to speed up the COBOL to Java conversion process on the “IBM Z,” improving platform developer productivity. It is intended to speed up COBOL application modernization efforts and is anticipated to become generally accessible in the fourth quarter of this year.
