In a strategic move to reinforce its focus on Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, HCLTech has appointed Kiran Cherukuri as its new Global GCC Practice Leader. This announcement comes as the tech giant intensifies its efforts in one of the fastest-growing segments within the technology landscape.

Kiran Cherukuri, who returns to HCLTech with over three decades of experience across top-tier technology companies and start-ups, will now lead the company’s GCC initiatives. His mandate includes driving growth, expanding partnerships, and enabling clients to leverage HCLTech’s broad portfolio of services, technologies, and corporate capabilities. Cherukuri previously served at HCLTech for 14 years, contributing significantly to digital foundation services, engineering R&D, industry-specific solutions, and talent services.

Reflecting on his new role, Cherukuri emphasized the transformative potential of GCCs: “GCCs are evolving rapidly and are well-positioned to deliver greater strategic value through innovation in technology and talent.”

Currently, HCLTech has established collaborations with over 200 GCCs across India. According to Rahul Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Corporate Functions at HCLTech, the company is set to intensify its efforts in this domain: “GCCs have become hubs of digital innovation for global enterprises. HCLTech is committed to scaling up its involvement in this space with a renewed focus on the Indian market.”

Cherukuri holds a degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering and a postgraduate diploma in Business Management. His prior experience also includes establishing global delivery centers and leading initiatives in business development, marketing, and partnerships.

Meanwhile, Wipro has also made a key leadership announcement in the GCC space, naming Sandeep Dhar as the Global Head of its GCC practice. Dhar, a seasoned professional with over 30 years in the GCC and consulting ecosystem, has a proven track record of building and scaling high-performing organizations in the sector.

These strategic appointments by HCLTech and Wipro underline the growing significance of GCCs as engines of digital transformation and innovation, especially in India’s evolving tech ecosystem.
