A landmark partnership between the Government of Karnataka, Bengaluru Airport City Ltd. (BACL), and ANSR has led to the launch of District I, a Global Innovation Hub designed to elevate India’s innovation ecosystem onto the world stage.
Situated within the expansive 28-million-square-foot Business Park at Bengaluru Airport City, District I is envisioned as a central platform for deep-tech entrepreneurship, enterprise-driven innovation, and the commercialisation of academic research. The hub will unite Global Capability Centers (GCCs), IT service providers, accelerators, corporate labs, startups, venture capitalists, academia, and public institutions, fostering a collaborative environment across sectors and disciplines.
District I’s focus spans advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, blockchain, and customer experience solutions. These efforts are set to drive innovation in key industries, including aerospace, space technology, smart cities, retail, banking and finance, manufacturing, telecom, and defence sectors, where Bengaluru already commands a global reputation.
Leaders from the government and industry underscored the significance of this initiative. Ekroop Caur, Secretary of the Department of Electronics, IT, BT, and S&T, Government of Karnataka, highlighted Bengaluru’s longstanding leadership in technology and its renewed commitment to global collaboration and innovation. Rao Munukutla, Executive Director & CEO of BACL, described District I as a vibrant ecosystem designed to inspire and empower innovators, while Lalit Ahuja, Founder & CEO of ANSR, emphasised the hub’s potential to position Bengaluru as a global benchmark for innovation and entrepreneurship.
