Google has extended its Gemini Deep Research feature to support nine Indian languages: Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. This update is available for Gemini Advanced users as part of a broader rollout, which now includes over 45 languages across more than 100 countries.

Deep Research, an agentic tool within Gemini Advanced, simplifies the process of exploring complex topics by generating structured, easy-to-read reports. These reports can be exported to Google Docs and include links to original sources, allowing users to explore topics further by connecting them to relevant websites, businesses, or organisations.

The feature automates the time-consuming task of online research by analysing data from across the internet. It creates a multi-step research plan that users can review or adjust before proceeding. Once approved, Gemini uses AI to gather and refine information, mimicking human browsing behaviour and saving users significant time.

Google positions Deep Research as a key development towards building a highly capable personal AI assistant. The tool is designed to handle complex tasks, such as helping graduate students understand trends in autonomous vehicle sensor technologies or assisting entrepreneurs in analysing competitors for business planning.

Currently, the feature is available in English on desktop and mobile web for Gemini Advanced subscribers, with plans to launch it on the mobile app in early 2025. Users can access it by selecting “Gemini 1.5 Pro with Deep Research” from the model menu and submitting a query.
