GITAM unveils first technology-enabling centre in Andhra Pradesh By Elets News Network - 22 June 2023

The Technology-Enabling Centre will focus on identifying new-age technologies and making them available for market assessment of technologies required for Andhra Pradesh industries, as well as refining technologies, by collaborating with various technology development labs.

Following a Rs 3.28 crore grant from the Department of Science and Technology, GITAM established the DST GITAM Technology-Enabling Centre (G-TEC) in Andhra Pradesh. This is the state’s first Technology-Enabling Centre, located on the Visakhapatnam campus.


G-TEC aims to bridge the industry-academia gap and provide an enabling ecosystem for faculty innovators and MSMEs in the state. The Technology-Enabling Centre will focus on identifying new-age technologies and making them available for market assessment of technologies required for Andhra Pradesh industries and refining technologies refining technologies, by collaborating with various technology development labs.

“Academics are the foundation for knowledge generation.” However, effective institutional mechanisms in India, effective institutional mechanisms for translating R&D output into technological wealth are largely lacking. Prof. Raja P. Pappu, Coordinator-G-TEC, Director, Research and Development, GITAM, stated, “G-TEC will work to connect researchers with institutes, national laboratories, and industry to create an ecosystem for technology development and transfer.”
