Emergent, an AI-powered app builder, has secured $70 million in Series B funding led by Khosla Ventures and SoftBank Investment Advisers, with participation from Lightspeed India, Prosus Ventures, Together, and Y Combinator. The company has achieved $50 million in annual recurring revenue while serving over 5 million users across 190+ countries, making it one of the fastest-growing AI startups globally and the fastest-ever in India.
Founded by co-founders including Madhav, Emergent democratizes software development by providing users with what it describes as “a team of top 1% developers” through its AI platform. The solution enables individuals and businesses to transform ideas into monetizable software applications without traditional engineering resources.
“I’ve watched hundreds of people, including most friends, give up great ideas prematurely because building software felt impossible,” said the co-founder. “This raise gets us closer to our ambition of helping builders all over the world bring their most audacious ideas to life.”

Emergent positions itself as the only AI app builder that operates like a team of top engineers, eliminating expensive engineering hires and costly development services. The platform’s core proposition is simple: if users can describe their idea, Emergent can build it.
The funding will accelerate Emergent’s mission to reach millions of potential entrepreneurs worldwide. According to the company, the next era of entrepreneurship will be built not with expensive engineers, but with accessible AI-powered development platforms that remove technical barriers to innovation.
