OpenAI has announced that users in the United States and Canada can now interact with ChatGPT through flip phones and landlines by dialling 1-800-CHATGPT. Each user gets 15 minutes of access per month. No subscription or account is needed, making it convenient to ask questions or explore new language phrases using natural voice conversations.

Using ChatGPT on WhatsApp

For users outside the US and Canada, ChatGPT is now available on WhatsApp. Text 1-800-242-8478 to start using the service. While it answers questions like the app, advanced features like image generation or voice interaction still require the web or official app.

In the future, OpenAI plans to add account authentication for WhatsApp users, along with features like chatting with images and web searches. Currently, similar tools can be accessed on WhatsApp through Meta AI.

• Day 5: ChatGPT integrated with Apple’s systems, allowing access via Siri and generative AI features for text generation, summarisation, and object identification through the iPhone camera.
• Day 6: Advanced Voice Mode now includes video and screensharing features. Demonstrations showed ChatGPT assisting with tasks like coffee-making, math tutoring, and emotion analysis, accessible via the app.
• Day 7: The new Projects tool lets users upload files, save chats, and create custom instructions within ChatGPT. Available to Plus, Pro, and Teams users, a rollout to free users is planned.
• Day 8: OpenAI expanded ChatGPT’s conversational search globally to all logged-in users, integrating it into Advanced Voice Mode with improved speed and mobile usability.
• Day 9: Developer tools for the o1 API were released, including function calling, vision inputs, and structured outputs. OpenAI also introduced new SDKs and simplified API key access.
