Artificial intelligence, big data, and security management roles are set to be among the jobs growing fastest by 2030, according to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Future of Jobs Report 2025. Released before the WEF annual meeting in Davos (20–25 January), the report forecasts shifts in the labour market, with job disruption affecting 22% of roles globally by 2030.
The report projects the creation of 170 million new jobs by 2030. Factors like technology changes, economic fragmentation, uncertainty, demographic changes, and green transitions, have been cited as the sculptures of the global job market.
Data from over 1,000 global companies, representing 14 million workers across 22 industries and 55 economies, forms the basis of the report. It states that 60% of employers expect increased digital access to drive changes in businesses.
Growing Jobs Globally
Roles such as AI and machine learning specialists, software and application developers, and FinTech engineers are projected to grow in percentage terms. Frontline roles, including farmworkers, delivery drivers, and construction workers, are expected to grow in absolute numbers.

The report also mentions the impact of AI, with 50% of companies planning to use it for new opportunities, 41% considering workforce reductions due to automation, and 77% focusing on upskilling.

AI, big data, and cybersecurity skills are projected to grow, with AI and big data showing an 87% net increase. Skills such as creative thinking and resilience are also increasing, while manual dexterity and traditional literacy skills are declining.
