To defend India at scale, an integrated security approach, cybersecurity skilling, and coordination between the public and commercial sectors for threat intelligence analysis and sharing would be essential. Rama Vedashree, CEO, Data Security Council of India (DSCI), and Mary Jo Schrade, Regional Lead, Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit, Asia, spoke at a cybersecurity roundtable about the critical role of cybersecurity in assisting governments and organisations in building resilience and ensuring business continuity in a hybrid world. The focus of the conversation was on the expanding cybercrime economy and the necessity for businesses to invest in a solid security posture.

Speaking at the roundtable, Mary Jo Schrade, Regional Lead, Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit, Asia, said, “Over the past few years, cybercriminals have been finding ways to exploit new vulnerabilities, driving the rise of cybercrime as an economy. Tech support scams especially are a growing challenge that needs industry-wide collaboration. It’s important to remember that cybersecurity is a team sport.
