Aina Computers Inc. on 5 November 2026 opened preorders for the Aina Ring, a titanium smart ring with an OLED display designed so wearers can approve or reject AI agent actions without unlocking a phone. The early-bird price is $399, rising to $499 at retail, with shipments planned for January 2027.
Founder Apoorv Shankar, previously vice president of hardware at Indian wearable brand Ultrahuman, said approvals will become the default interface as agents turn proactive. The company spent about 15 months in stealth after showing experimental Project Mirage hardware, including a three-button Mac controller called Dune, at CES 2026.
What the Aina Ring does
The ring connects to iPhone and Mac. Its Context Aware Operating System learns routines from calendar, location and linked apps, then surfaces up to three next actions—”Aina Cues”—on the OLED. A thumb “shifter” accepts, rejects or navigates; the centre button triggers voice to agents or quick notes. A tiny speaker supports hand-to-ear phone calls.
Example cues include booking a habitual Uber, emailing that the wearer is late for a Zoom, or resuming a podcast when running shoes go on. Users can also write custom cues in natural language. Unsupported apps can be driven through connected agents such as Muse or Instinct via virtual browsers. In context, the ring doubles as a Zoom or TV remote.
- Titanium build, OLED display, microphone and speaker; about 18-hour battery (company)
- Preorder $399 until retail $499; ships January 2027
- iPhone and Mac pairing; third-party services via the Aina app
Why it matters for agentic AI
Enterprise teams are racing to deploy agents that act, not only chat. A recent TCS enterprise AI study found only about 10% of organisations let agents act alone, and Salesforce Agent Fabric added kill switches and spend caps for CIO control. Hardware that makes yes/no approvals frictionless sits in that same governance gap.
India’s builders are also shipping wearables for AI interaction, from Subvocal’s silent-speech AI glasses to broader agentic AI partnerships across Indian enterprises. CERT-In has separately warned that unsupervised agents can read corporate data undetected, so an always-on approval surface is as much a safety pattern as a convenience feature.
How Aina positions against other AI gadgets
Shankar argues phones remain “too perfect” to replace. Unlike Humane or Rabbit devices that tried to stand in for the smartphone, Aina keeps the phone in the pocket and treats the ring as a remote for agents that already know context. OpenAI is separately developing a consumer device with designer Jony Ive; Aina is betting the winning form factor is a low-friction approval button, not another screen.

Key takeaways
- Aina Ring preorders opened 5 November 2026 at $399 early-bird, shipping January 2027.
- Founder Apoorv Shankar previously led hardware at Ultrahuman; Aina spent ~15 months in stealth after CES 2026 Project Mirage demos.
- The pitch is proactive AI-agent approvals via OLED cues and thumb gestures, not replacing the phone.
