Razorpay has partnered with OpenAI to integrate native payment capabilities into Codex and ChatGPT, enabling developers and businesses to build and monetise applications seamlessly.

The integration allows developers to embed payment functionality directly into applications generated through Codex, eliminating the need for separate payment infrastructure. Using Razorpay’s MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, developers can now create apps with built-in payment flows from simple prompts.

The system supports multiple payment methods, including UPI and digital payment options, making it easier for Indian developers to launch monetised applications quickly.

In addition, Razorpay has introduced a ChatGPT-based interface for businesses, enabling them to manage financial operations through conversational commands. This includes tasks such as tracking settlements, reconciling transactions, and monitoring refunds, all within a chat interface.

The move is part of a broader push toward “agentic payments”, where AI systems not only assist users but also execute end-to-end transactions within a single workflow. This marks a shift from traditional payment systems to AI-native commerce experiences.

Industry leaders highlighted that the integration could significantly reduce friction in product development, allowing startups to move from idea to deployment to revenue generation within a unified AI-driven environment.

The development underscores the growing convergence of AI, developer tools, and fintech infrastructure, positioning conversational AI platforms as end-to-end business and commerce ecosystems.
