Swiss banking major UBS has inaugurated a new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad, marking a significant expansion of its India operations and reinforcing its long-term commitment to the country. The state-of-the-art facility will create nearly 3,000 jobs over the next two years.

The new center strengthens Hyderabad’s position as a global hub for high-value financial technology, operations, and GCC leadership. UBS currently employs over 15,000 professionals across Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad, supporting the bank’s wealth management, investment banking, brokerage services, and research operations.

Speaking at the inauguration, Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu highlighted that Hyderabad has emerged as a preferred destination for leading financial institutions. “UBS’s decision to deepen its presence here reflects confidence in our institutional stability, progressive policy framework, and our standing as a global talent and innovation hub,” he stated.

Matthias Schacke, Head of India Service Company and Group Operation & Technology Office India at UBS, emphasized Hyderabad’s strategic importance. “Hyderabad continues to be an important growth location for UBS, thanks to its strong talent pool, supportive policies, and excellent infrastructure. We look forward to expanding our technology capabilities, including AI, while enhancing our operations footprint in the city,” he said.

The facility underscores India’s growing attractiveness for global financial institutions seeking to leverage technology and talent for innovation. With automation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence becoming central to financial services, UBS’s investment positions Hyderabad as a key hub for the future of banking technology and operations.
