Elon Musk’s Starlink is gearing up to debut its satellite internet services in India, offering a high-speed connectivity solution at an expected price of ₹3,000 per month for unlimited data. A one-time receiver kit fee of ₹33,000 is also anticipated, as per official sources.
This move follows Starlink’s recent approval from the Ministry of Telecommunications—a major milestone in its India entry. The proposed pricing aligns with that in neighbouring Bangladesh, where the service is already operational.
Sources from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) indicate Starlink plans to roll out services within the next 12 months, with an initial bandwidth capacity of 600–700 Gbps.

The company joins the likes of Bharti Airtel’s OneWeb and Reliance Jio’s satellite venture as one of the few entities licensed to offer satellite-based internet in India. Already active in Asian markets like Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and the Philippines, Starlink aims to bridge digital divides in underserved regions.
To streamline deployment and infrastructure access, Starlink has reportedly partnered with major Indian telecom operators Jio and Airtel. However, it still awaits final approvals from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) before spectrum allocation and full-scale operations can begin.
