Singapore Korean partnership

In a significant move to boost investment in India’s private debt sector, Lighthouse Canton, a wealth and asset management firm based in Singapore, has formed a strategic alliance with NH Absolute Return Partners (NHARP), an asset management entity of NH Investment & Securities. This collaboration, marked by a memorandum of understanding (MOU), commits to co-invest USD 20 million in Indian businesses, recognising India’s dynamic market and potential for significant exit strategies across various industries, including financial services and consumer sectors.

Sanket Sinha, Board Director at Lighthouse Canton and Head of its Asset Management division noted the promising prospects of India’s mid-market ecosystem, fueled by favourable demographics, policy support, and infrastructural development. He anticipates substantial gains as India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy within the next 3-4 years. The partnership aims to support the growth of sectors such as small finance, fintech, B2B commerce, and agricultural finance in India and South-East Asia.

Kijung Kwon, Managing Director and CIO of NH Absolute Return Partners, highlighted India’s appeal to investors, citing the successful realization of around US$30 billion through approximately 250 exit transactions in 2023, including IPOs and M&As. The firm plans to focus more on identifying and capitalising on investment opportunities in India’s promising companies.

Hongwook Warren Kim, CEO of the Global Business Division at NH Investment & Securities, underscored India’s rapidly developing venture ecosystem and capital market. He views the MOU as a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Indian market and create synergies with Lighthouse Canton.

NH, leveraging the resources of its parent company and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation Financial Group, aims to explore further investment opportunities in the region.
