Sanjeev Duggal has been named the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Universal Biofuels Private Limited, Aemetis’ India-based subsidiary. Aemetis is a renewable natural gas and renewable fuels company that focuses on products with low and negative carbon intensity. Duggal will assume his duties officially on July 1, 2024.

Universal Biofuels is a biodiesel producer in India that operates the largest biodiesel production facility in the country. It is located near the eastern port of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, and currently has an annual production capacity of 60 million gallons.

Previously, Duggal served as the Managing Director at NTPC GE Power Services Limited, and as an Executive at GE, India. He has also worked as the Manager of Corporate Treasury, and in Business Development, for Cummins, the global diesel engine and power solutions company in the US.

Duggal will be responsible for leading operational growth and pursuing the IPO of Universal Biofuels. “Renewable fuels are growing rapidly in India, but the industry is still at an early stage of growth and is expected to expand significantly to meet India’s goals for energy independence, improved air quality, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.
