OpenAI has introduced a new $100-per-month ChatGPT subscription tier designed for heavy users of its AI coding assistant, Codex, marking a major expansion of its premium offerings for developers and enterprise users. The new plan delivers five times more Codex usage than the standard $20 Plus tier, catering to users who require longer and more intensive coding sessions.
The launch positions the new tier between ChatGPT Plus and OpenAI’s existing $200 premium Pro plan, creating a more accessible mid-tier option for professionals seeking higher limits without moving to the top-end subscription. OpenAI said the plan still includes core Pro features, along with expanded access to Codex tools.

To accelerate adoption, OpenAI has also announced a temporary promotional boost through May 31, allowing $100 subscribers to receive up to 10 times the Codex usage available on the Plus plan. At the same time, rate limits for existing $200 Pro subscribers have been reset to ensure uninterrupted service during the transition.

The move comes as competition intensifies in the AI coding assistant market, where rivals such as Anthropic and its Claude Code platform are aggressively targeting developers. By launching a mid-tier premium option, OpenAI is broadening its pricing strategy to capture both casual users and advanced software professionals.
