OpenAI Releases AI-Powered Search Tool Prototype SearchGPT By Elets News Network - 26 July 2024

SearchGPT

OpenAI recently announced the rollout of their new search tool prototype named SearchGPT. It is currently in its testing phase, available selectively for a small group of people who sign up for it. SearchGPT will provide real-time access to information available on the internet, putting it in direct competition with the current dominant search engine, Google.

This prototype, according to OpenAI, aims to shorten the time taken to attain relevant results by “enhancing the conversational capabilities” of their models with real-time information on the internet and providing “clear links to relevant sources.”

An enticing feature of this search engine is the user’s ability to ask follow-up questions, like in a conversation, along with “shared context building with each query,” OpenAI’s blog stated.

OpenAI is also partnering with creators and publishers, giving them the ability to choose how they want to appear on the search engine. It cites and links publishers in searches, helping users to connect with them, know where the information is coming from, and quickly find more results with more source links provided in a sidebar.

“While this prototype is temporary, we plan to integrate the best of these features directly into ChatGPT in the future,” OpenAI stated.
