OpenAI Introduces a New Way to Organise Work with ChatGPT Projects By Elets News Network - 16 December 2024

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Projects, a new tool designed to help users organise their work more efficiently. As part of its ‘shipmas’ announcements, the company shared that this feature will appear on the left sidebar in ChatGPT, allowing users to customise titles and icon colours for their projects. Files and instructions can also be added to guide the chatbot’s responses, and previous chats can be imported into existing projects.

To start a project, users can click the + button near Projects at the top right corner of the page, give it a name, and then choose “Create Project.” This feature uses GPT-4.0 by default, and the model cannot be changed.

OpenAI shared examples of using ChatGPT Projects for organising a Secret Santa gift exchange and tracking home repairs. The feature is currently available to Plus, Pro, and Teams users, with plans to extend it to Enterprise and Education accounts early next year. Free users will also get access in the future

“Users can now maintain their home projects more effectively. We’re all about making it easier for people to access the information they need when they need it,” said Thomas Dimson, a member of the technical staff at OpenAI.

This update is part of OpenAI’s 12-day ‘shipmas’ event, which has also introduced a text-to-video AI tool named Sora, the Canvas feature, and a ChatGPT Pro plan priced at $200 per month.
