Novotech, a globally recognized full-service biotech clinical research organization, has appointed Dr. Anand Tharmaratnam as its new Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Tharmaratnam, who has served as Novotech Chairman since 2021, brings nearly three decades of experience in the global CRO industry.

Reflecting Novotech’s increasingly international profile, Tharmaratnam will be based at the company’s new global headquarters in Singapore. The appointment follows a thoughtful succession process after former CEO Dr. John Moller announced his intention to step down at year-end, concluding nine years in the role. The transition occurred after the successful completion of the company’s capital raising in March 2025, which brought GIC and Temasek as new investors alongside long-term supporter TPG.

A critical care physician by training, Dr. Tharmaratnam previously spent 23 years at global CRO Quintiles and its successor organization IQVIA, including a decade on global executive committees as Head of Asia and Japan, a position he held until 2020. As Chairman over the past four years, he has been instrumental in providing leadership and guidance supporting Novotech’s expansion into new markets and development of innovative service capabilities in clinical research.

Looking ahead, Dr. Tharmaratnam stated the company will expand its global footprint, strengthen scientific capabilities, and leverage technology and data to support increasingly global and complex biotech programs. Novotech currently operates over 30 offices across Asia-Pacific, North America, and Europe with partnerships spanning 5,000 trial sites worldwide.
