Nokia has expanded its R&D centre in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Supported by the Tamil Nadu government, this is the company’s largest global facility for its Fixed Networks division.

The R&D lab will play an important role in Nokia’s efforts to develop advanced technologies like 10G to 100G PON, Fixed Wireless Access, Wi-Fi, and home network solutions.

As a part of its strategic partnership with Nokia, the Tamil Nadu government is providing crucial infrastructure and regulatory support for this expansion. The two parties recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in attendance with Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and Industries Minister Dr. T. R. B Rajaa in San Francisco.

Dr. Rajaa said, “Nokia has been a long-standing partner in Tamil Nadu’s growth story, and it is a matter of pride for us that the new facility, the largest fixed network lab within Nokia and probably the whole world, will be in Chennai.”
