McAfee has launched the McAfee Deepfake Detector to address the issue of AI-generated videos, deepfakes, scams, and misinformation. This tool is part of McAfee’s AI-driven products and has been created with the help of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). It is designed for users in India.
The Smart AI Hub by McAfee provides tools and resources to help users understand AI-related scams. Pratim Mukherjee, the Senior Director of Engineering at McAfee, explained that the tool helps users know if a video is real or fake. He said this can help users make better decisions online.

McAfee’s study found that users in India see an average of 4.7 deepfake videos daily. It also found that 66% of people said they or someone they know had been a victim of deepfake scams in the past year. Scams have become harder to detect, and 44% of those who experienced one scam became victims of another within a year.

The Deepfake Detector is available in India on some Copilot+ PCs. Users of this service are alerted quickly if AI-modified audio is found in videos. There is no need to upload videos manually. The tool works directly on the user’s PC, which McAfee says helps protect data privacy. The tool has been trained on a large number of examples and does not collect or save user audio. Users can turn the audio detection feature on or off as needed.
The McAfee Deepfake Detector supports English and is available on certain Copilot+ PCs in India. The standalone version costs ₹499, while McAfee+ with the Deepfake Detector costs ₹2,398. These options are aimed at helping users in India deal with increasing digital scams and misinformation.
