Netgear, a leading global networking firm, has declared that Patrick C. S. Lo, its incumbent Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, will be retiring. Charles (CJ) Prober is set to immediately take over the helm, simultaneously joining the Board of Directors.

Lo will remain involved as a strategic advisor until July 2024 to ensure a seamless changeover in leadership, the organisation disclosed.

Prober’s selection is the culmination of a thorough 12-month quest by Netgear’s Board to find a successor who possesses extensive expertise in consumer electronics, software, and subscription services. The Board unanimously endorses Prober, acknowledging his comprehensive qualifications as pivotal for Netgear’s continued prosperity in both the consumer and business networking markets.

Thomas H. Waechter, Netgear’s Lead Independent Director, praised Lo’s foundational role and leadership over nearly three decades. “As Netgear’s co-founder, Patrick Lo’s indelible mark on the company through his foresight in advancing networking products and solutions has significantly defined our identity. CJ is fully backed by the Board, and we are eager to collaborate with him and the Netgear executive team in steering the company towards further innovation.”

Prober is recognised for his rich background, having occupied influential roles at renowned consumer and technology enterprises. His accomplishments span across Life360, Tile (now part of Life360), GoPro, and Electronic Arts (EA), where he has been instrumental in fostering growth, innovation, and enhancing shareholder value—most notably leading EA’s shift to a digital services model.
