LTIMindtree has announced the appointment of Nachiket Deshpande as President of AI Services, a key role under the leadership of newly appointed Chief Executive Venu Lambu. Nachiket, currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a board member, will now spearhead the company’s AI business division, drive strategic partnerships, oversee mergers & acquisitions (M&A), research & development (R&D), and ecosystem expansion, according to updates on his LinkedIn profile.

Nachiket was previously considered a frontrunner for the CEO position before Venu’s selection. In his new role, he will be based in New York and will have Chief Delivery Officer Ram Khizaamboor and Chief Growth Officer Krishnan Iyer reporting to him.

In his note to employees, CEO Venu Lambu highlighted the emergence of a new AI-driven technology landscape, stating, “The rapid evolution of the AI stack over the past 18 to 24 months is reshaping the software and services industry, opening new opportunities. To succeed in this AI economy, we must adopt a fresh approach.”

The appointment also raises questions about the future of the COO position at LTIMindtree, as observed in industry peers like Infosys and TCS, where the role has been either eliminated or restructured.

A seasoned technology executive, Deshpande has an extensive background in IT services, having spent nearly two decades at Cognizant before joining LTIMindtree in 2022 following the merger of L&T Infotech and Mindtree. His leadership in the AI domain is expected to drive innovation and business transformation within the company.
