Microsoft is improving business efficiency with its latest AI-powered offerings. 60% of Fortune 500 companies are already using Microsoft 365 Copilot to improve productivity. Microsoft has announced new agentic capabilities to speed up these gains.

Starting next month, Copilot Studio, which allows organisations to create and manage autonomous agents, will be available for public preview. Additionally, ten new autonomous agents will be added in Dynamics 365, to support sales, service, finance, and supply chain functions.

These autonomous agents, powered by AI, can handle tasks from lead generation to automating supply chains. With Copilot Studio, businesses can create agents tailored to their specific needs, turning these agents into “apps” that work on behalf of individuals, teams, or entire departments.

Companies like Clifford Chance, McKinsey & Company, Pets at Home, and Thomson Reuters are already creating autonomous agents to improve revenue, reduce costs, and scale impact. McKinsey & Company, for instance, developed an agent that cut client onboarding time by 90%, while Thomson Reuters built a legal agent that reduced the time for tasks like legal due diligence workflow by half.

To future-proof businesses, these new agents are designed to replace legacy applications with AI-first business processes. Examples include a Sales Qualification Agent to prioritise sales leads, a Supplier Communications Agent to autonomously monitor and optimise supply chains and Customer Intent and Customer Knowledge Management Agents, that work with customer service representatives to resolve customer issues.

Microsoft informs that these agents follow strict data governance and security measures, to make sure AI is used responsibly while providing businesses with the tools to manage agent behaviour.

Internally, Microsoft has seen remarkable results with Copilot and agents, including a 9.4% revenue increase per seller, 12% faster customer case resolution, and a 21.5% boost in marketing conversions on Azure.com.
