Microsoft has taken a significant step in strengthening its AI, cloud, and security research capabilities in India by laying the foundation for its proposed India Development Centre (IDC) campus in Noida. The facility, set to be built in Sector 145, will span 15 acres with a built-up area of 1.1 million square feet.

Once operational, the Noida campus will be crucial in advancing AI innovation, supporting digital transformation, and nurturing engineering talent in the country. At the event, Rajiv Kumar, Managing Director and President of Microsoft IDC, emphasised the company’s dedication to AI, cloud, and security, stating, “This facility will attract top-tier talent and empower them to drive innovations that positively impact billions globally.”

The project has received strong backing from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Noida Authority, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attending the foundation-laying ceremony.

Microsoft has already established a strong presence in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, and the Noida expansion marks a strategic move to reinforce its influence in North India’s rapidly growing tech landscape. Kumar highlighted that AI in India extends beyond automation, playing a transformative role in healthcare, education, agriculture, and public infrastructure.
