Meta eyes $10B investment in Scale AI By Kaanchi Chawla - 09 June 2025

Meta is reportedly in talks to make a landmark investment exceeding $10 billion in Scale AI, according to official sources – a deal that could become one of the largest private funding rounds in AI history. If finalised, it would mark Meta’s most significant external bet on artificial intelligence to date.

Scale AI, led by CEO Alexandr Wang, specialises in providing high-quality data labeling for tech giants like Microsoft and OpenAI — an essential step in training advanced AI systems. Despite past scrutiny over its labour practices, including a recently closed Department of Labour investigation into worker classification, Scale has continued to thrive, generating $870 million in revenue last year and targeting a massive $2 billion for 2025.

Meta was already part of Scale AI’s $1 billion Series F round, which valued the company at $13.8 billion. The two firms have also collaborated on “Defense Llama,” a military-grade AI model built using Meta’s Llama 3 infrastructure.

This potential mega-investment underscores Meta’s aggressive push to stay ahead in the AI race, especially as global competition and enterprise demand continue to surge.
