Honeywell and Google Cloud have collaborated to integrate AI agents into the industrial sector, to improve autonomous operations, boost productivity, and upskill employees. This partnership combines Google Cloud’s Gemini on Vertex AI with Honeywell Forge’s industrial data, and aims to deliver easy-to-understand insights across multiple use cases.

Due to this initiative, Honeywell’s customers can expect reduced maintenance costs and improved efficiency, with solutions available by 2025.

Vimal Kapur, Honeywell’s CEO, said, “By combining Google Cloud’s AI technology with our deep domain expertise–including valuable data on our Honeywell Forge platform–customers will receive unparalleled, actionable insights bridging the physical and digital worlds to accelerate autonomous operations, a key driver of Honeywell’s growth.”

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian stated that the fusion of AI with Honeywell’s industrial data and expertise will create opportunities to optimise operations, empower workforces and enable meaningful business outcomes globally for industrial organisations.

Honeywell’s 2024 Industrial AI Insights report shows that while many companies are early adopters, full AI implementation is still limited. This partnership aims to bridge that gap.

Key innovations include purpose-built AI agents to automate tasks and reduce project timelines, using large language models to assist technicians in resolving maintenance issues. Enhanced cybersecurity measures will also be integrated, leveraging Google’s Mandiant-powered Threat Intelligence to bolster Honeywell’s existing security products.

Looking ahead, Honeywell will explore AI-powered edge devices using Google’s Gemini Nano model, designed for various tasks without the need for internet connectivity.
