HCL GUVI, an IIT Madras-incubated EdTech company, announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to embed advanced AI tools and globally aligned development practices into structured learning programs, addressing India’s growing demand for enterprise-grade workforce capabilities.

Unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the collaboration aims to equip students and working professionals with modern workflows, responsible use frameworks, and production-ready solution development skills as enterprises accelerate AI adoption.

Arun Prakash, Founder and CEO of HCL GUVI, emphasized the partnership marks the next phase of the company’s journey, integrating global-grade infrastructure and best practices into India’s workforce ecosystem. He noted the focus must shift from experimentation to building deployable capability at scale, enabling learners to transition from pilot projects to real-world implementation.

The partnership signals deeper integration of global technology frameworks into India’s skilling ecosystem, complementing OpenAI’s broader push into Indian higher education. OpenAI simultaneously announced collaborations with leading institutions including IIT Delhi, IIM Ahmedabad, and AIIMS New Delhi, alongside partnerships with ed-tech platforms PhysicsWallah and upGrad.

Coinciding with the OpenAI announcement, HCL GUVI concluded the India Impact Buildathon in collaboration with HCLTech. The initiative engaged over 40,000 participants forming more than 15,000 teams across 100 cities. Participants underwent a structured “Learn, Build, Ship” process designed to develop practical AI application skills.

The partnership reflects recognition that AI skills must scale across India’s broader learner base, not just elite universities, as the country positions itself as a global talent hub for AI-driven industries.
