Google Cloud Appoints Sashikumar Sreedharan as New India Managing Director

Google Cloud has officially named Sashikumar Sreedharan as its new Managing Director for India, marking a significant leadership transition as the company sharpens its focus on AI-led innovation in one of the world’s fastest-growing digital economies. Sreedharan succeeds Bikram Singh Bedi, who has taken on a broader strategic role across the Asia Pacific region.

With over 30 years of experience in the technology sector, Sreedharan joined Google Cloud in September 2023 as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Asia Pacific region. Based in Bengaluru, he now steps into a pivotal position where he will lead Google Cloud’s go-to-market organisation in India. His responsibilities will include deepening engagement with enterprise clients, digital-native businesses, partners, and the developer ecosystem, all while championing Google Cloud’s AI-first vision.

Before joining Google Cloud, Sreedharan held several key leadership roles across major technology firms. He served as Managing Director of Microsoft India, where he oversaw the enterprise business segment. He has also held senior leadership positions at SAP and IBM, cementing his reputation as a strategic and transformative leader.

Commenting on his new role, Sreedharan stated, “My time as APAC COO has deeply affirmed my belief in Google Cloud’s winning strategy and powerful AI-first platform. I am excited to return to the field and to work with our customers to advance their innovation agenda.”

The appointment comes at a time when India is witnessing a rapid acceleration in cloud adoption, driven by strong demand for AI, data analytics, and scalable infrastructure solutions. Google Cloud’s customer base in India spans a diverse range of sectors, including financial services, retail, healthcare, and public enterprises. Key clients include HDFC Bank, ICICI Prudential, Flipkart, Meesho, Myntra, Manipal Hospitals, Apollo 24/7, and Dr. Reddy’s Labs, as well as leading IT service providers like Wipro and Tech Mahindra.

Karan Bajwa, President of Google Cloud, Asia Pacific, expressed confidence in the company’s positioning in the region: “AI is poised to redefine India’s industries and supercharge the productivity and creativity of its vast talent pool. With our deep AI heritage, cutting-edge technical infrastructure, and innovative solutions, Google Cloud is uniquely positioned to partner with Indian businesses and the public sector to harness AI’s transformative power.”

Outgoing India Managing Director Bikram Singh Bedi also shared his thoughts on the transition. “It has been an incredible four and a half years, and I am immensely proud of the business we have built. I look forward to contributing to APAC’s strategic priorities and watching India’s continued success in this new chapter under Sashi’s leadership.”

With this leadership change, Google Cloud signals its commitment to accelerating digital transformation in India, underpinned by AI, cloud scalability, and collaborative partnerships. Sreedharan’s appointment is expected to steer the company’s growth trajectory in a competitive and evolving market.
