Uttar Pradesh is soon going to transform into a global IT hub as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is taking the initiative to develop five of its key districts -Gautam Budh Nagar, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, and Prayagraj—for the IT and ITES sectors.
Gautam Budh Nagar will focus on IT and ITES, Lucknow on artificial intelligence and machine learning, Kanpur on drones and robotics, and Varanasi and Prayagraj on engineering research and development (ER&D).

UP aims to create a USD 1 trillion economy in the next three years by promoting the IT and ITES sectors. This plan prioritises skill development in emerging technologies to boost employment and create high-paying jobs. The government also plans to set up a land bank for IT and ITES and improve infrastructure for IT cities and parks.

A state-level IT and ITES advisory committee may be formed to work with industry and academia to promote the sector. There is also consideration of granting the IT sector industry status and allowing access to electricity at industrial tariffs.
