
Dilip Kastala has been named as the chief information officer (CIO) of HIL Limited, a subsidiary of the CK Birla Group, a $2.8 billion conglomerate.
Kastala previously worked for Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Hyderabad, where he was vice president and in charge of the biologics division’s digital, information technology, and process excellence.

HIL Limited, formerly known as Hyderabad Industries Limited, is a company that deals in building supplies, machinery, industrial supplies and components, and logistics networks. Its brands include Charminar and Birla Aerocon. The business has operations in Germany and India. Kastala will oversee HIL’s technology and digital transformation initiatives in the construction industry in his newly created position as CIO.

Kastala, who holds a master’s degree in computer science from Eastern Michigan University and a B.Tech. in computer science from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, said, “I am thrilled to join the CK Birla Group at HIL, as this organisation has a rich legacy of innovation. I’m eager to use digital as a key driver to add value to the company, says Kastala.
Kastala, who is based in Hyderabad, will manage the growth of HIL’s IT and digital initiatives from the company’s headquarters. Scaling up their digital operations, introducing cutting-edge technologies, and utilizing their corporate potential to spur innovation and efficiency will be his main areas of focus.
Kastala has almost two decades of experience and a successful track record in the technology industry, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has experience working in a variety of sectors, including power, infrastructure, agriculture, chemicals, technology, pharmaceuticals, and IT consulting.

He oversaw the Biologics division’s digital transformation agenda during his nearly four years at Dr. Reddy’s. This required developing the strategy for the digital transformation and putting Industry 4.0 technologies, RPA, NLP, Computer Vision, AI and ML Ops, GCP/AWS-based Data Lakes, and automation solutions for manufacturing, quality, R&D, clinical operations, and regulatory compliance into use. He also contributed to key digitization initiatives like SAP S/4 HANA, business intelligence, and data analytics.
Kastala previously held the position of group CIO for the NSL Group (which includes Dr. Reddy’s, Textiles, Sugar, Power, and Infrastructure divisions). He also worked for the American automaker General Motors and the pharmaceutical company Merck.
