Meta has named Derya Matras as the new Vice President for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), succeeding Angie Gifford, who will step down at the end of this year.
Derya joined Meta in 2015 and is experienced in leading diverse markets and teams across Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey. Her leadership helped numerous businesses to flourish through Meta’s platforms. She later expanded her role to include oversight of the UK and Northern Europe, enabling her to manage Meta’s business across over 80 countries.

Before joining Meta, Derya held senior positions in media, retail, and management consulting, notably at McKinsey & Company. She will immediately join the Global Head of Global Business Group of Meta, Nicola Mendelsohn’s leadership team, and assume her new responsibilities in December while working closely with Angie Gifford for a smooth transition.

Mendelsohn called Matras a leader who puts people first, someone who has a deep understanding of the industry, and makes data-driven decisions, helping build and lead diverse markets. “I am thrilled to see her take on this new role,” she added.
